It does require that you purchase an ooma Scout for $39.99 (as of 1/4/08) which is equivalent to about 1-2 months service with the phone company.

Now you still get the unlimited free calls you normally do but here’s the kicker. If someone is on the phone when a call comes through, it will just ring to another phone as if you actually had a second line! You still have just the one phone number!

Also, if you need to make a call when someone else is using the phone, just pick up the phone and dial! You’ll hear ooma‘s signature dial tone and you are set. Again, you have no additional monthly fees for this, just the purchase of the ooma Scout with the main system.
